Improving livelihoods, incomes and food security of smallholder farmers in Africa while addressing emerging challenges ā€“ climate change. I have a background in agricultural and development economics with experience working on poverty, livelihoods, and livestock marketing. Current research focuses on climate change adaptation, risk management and mitigation through farm-level actions/interventions and policy processes at different levels. Iā€™m coordinating the CGIAR research program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) for East Africa ā€“ Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

Vision of success for collaborative research: Taking advantage of diverse expertise or discipline to address a particular research problem, and translating the research outputs for use by farmers and policy makers.
